Many food and beverage products are sensitive to oxygen and suffer deterioration on exposure to even low levels of oxygen. M&H can now offer an oxygen-scavenging product in PET containers which limits exposure to oxygen and maintains product quality whilst extending shelf life.
It is manufactured from a blend of PET and an oxygen-scavenging concentrate which together create an active barrier against the ingress of oxygen through the walls of the container. This helps assure product quality, consistency and extended shelf-life for a wide range of oxygen-sensitive products including tomato-based products, fruit juices and citrus products.
"This ability to tightly control oxygen ingress enables PET containers to keep products fresher, more vibrant in colour and tasting better for longer. In addition the product is fully compliant with European and US Food Standards."
The first products to be launched using this innovation are from Fire Foods who offer a great range of chilli-based foods. All their products are homemade using only the finest ingredients and they wanted to be sure they stayed fresh for as long as possible.
